I continue to be amazed at the shift that has taken place in me. In the day-to-day I often notice myself noticing, naming, and applying the principles of permaculture....

For example, I notice myself noticing 'edges' everywhere, in the natural world, our person-made cities etc., in relationships, and within my own actions and thought processes, when feelings or ideas bounce up against each other. I may notice myself paying more attention to the relationships I have in my life.Or, I notice a deeper yearning for, and commitment to, creating and living in community in a more comprehensive way. Just a couple of examples.

Water flowing endlessly
 down the slope of my garden bed,
I need to build some terraces and swales to make it stay instead

Guilds around my apple tree
legumes currants and some comfrey
will help attract the birds and bees,
but wait none are insectaries!

Hi everyone,
Here are some of my photos to add to the mix.  Am really enjoying seeing your beautiful faces through the lenses of our various photographers!  I'm soaking in all the stories of returning and transitions; and sending energy to butt fatigued computer folk (Feral and Annie Rose; any others?).  And Nancy, what a huge decision--be well as you live into what emerges from the space you've created.

I woke this morning with images of quilt blocks visually conveying patterns--web, spirals, sacred geometry, and more.  And lyrics of "Permaculture changed my world" and "Some say Namaste. . ." are companions through my day--reconnecting me to each of you and the immense and transformative learning of EAT.

Thank you again Starhawk for your vision to create this course!  Thank you Starhawk and Charles for being with us and sharing so much of yourselves and your accumulated wisdom and experience.

As I write, my neighbors' chickens cluck in the background.  Yesterday my 4 year old neighbor, Dahlia, brought me 2 freshly laid eggs--1 green, 1 brown :).  Lots welling up within me as I reconnect with the Land here at home with fresh permie goggle eyes.  It is a delight to hear our stream burbling (I really missed the stream--sacred flowing water) and to see the growth of pumpkins, clover, wild flowers, and baby alder trees (to name only a few).  Dreaming and scheming with Dahlia's parents to get chickens and pigs next Spring--bye bye reed canary grass and blackberries!  Integrating animals into the food forest plan!

An invitation to any of you within travel distance:  Dorothy and I are celebrating the 15th anniversary of our handclasping with a feast on Friday, August 31 beginning around 6pm at Yarrow Ecovillage at the fire pit gathering node.  I'm just sorry you all won't be able to join in our celebration--but happy you all got to meet Dorothy!  And very happy for any who are able to be here--camping available (our house is full already) and warm showers and plenty of food and a chance to get your hands in the soil!!
